Additives
Additives for epoxy resin: Additives are supplementary substances added to the still-liquid epoxy resin mixture. Depending on the intended use, they change the properties of the resin, for easier sanding, better fillability, or protection against fouling.
Benefits and material properties
Talc: makes the resin fillable and easier to sand once cured
Thixotropic agent: makes the resin stay in place so it does not run on vertical surfaces
Cotton: reinforces and thickens the resin, suitable for bonding and heavy-duty repairs
Copper powder: provides a natural biocidal effect on underwater hulls. The copper remains permanently bound in the synthetic resin and is not released into the water.
